I loved living in Portland, Oregon. Phillip and I spent 4 years there, and each time we visit it feels like home. Here’s a picture of the view from the back of our house. I would sit for hours and stare out at that yard.
When we knew that we were moving I received a going away gift from a dear friend that I absolutely cherish. She gave us a set of Oregon mugs. They are probably meant as tourist memorabilia. One is landmarks from the state of Oregon and the other is specific to the city of Portland.
What do I love so much about these? Other than the fact that it feels like I’m being hugged the moment I take one out of the cupboard…it is threefold:
- They are huge. I love wrapping my chilled hands around a big mug of warm yummy stuff.
- They bring up thoughts of my friend.
- They remind me of Oregon which always had this uber cozy vibe about it. It can be hot where I live now, but starting my morning with one of these mugs always makes it feel like fall, my favorite season.
It is raining here today. Perfect to breakout an Oregon mug, fill it with some soy hot chocolate, and cozy up with a book. Afternoon set.
What is your favorite way to be hugged when no one is around to do the hugging?
